Okay, so it's not LA, it's not New York, and it never will be. But I've been living in Long Beach for a while now, and I love it because it's different. It has its own little small town charm, without being a small town- it's not trying to be cool, it just is. I went to to Long Beach Museum of Art for the first time the other weekend, and I was so pleasantly surprised by the awesome mural art being exhibited there right now, Vitality and Verve.
It was definitely and inspiring art installation, viewing street art in the confines of a museum gives it a whole new light, a new respect. It kind of reminded me of the event I went to at the Container Yard, in LA- where street art and culture were the highlight. I took a lot of pictures of my favorite pieces, obviously: the hanging rainbow piece by Hot Tea, yes Hot Tea that you see right when you enter, as well as the trippy black and white one by Brendan Monroe, that I couldn't stop staring at. It was a beautiful day, and we walked to the museum from our place in the morning, before an fun day of pool lounging. Perfect summer day, if ya ask me.
